Sour Cream and Onion Chicken Pretzel Sliders

Chicken Pretzel Sliders-Scroll to the bottom for a December 2022 update! A better way to make it with more flavor.

Hi Chickadees! It has been a hot minute! If you didn’t know I started classes in August. I hadn’t been in school for 5 years prior to this semester. Luckily my credits from the classes I had taken previously at my prior college all transferred over! I also got a new job that allows me to have more time for homework and studying and Roost Eleven Eighteen. Really struggled the whole month of September with my old job and classes and keeping on up on everything Roost Eleven Eighteen related. I am so excited about this new adventure!

Anyways, I am excited to share the newest All Flock Feed recipe! Not only because it is a delicious recipe! But also, it is my very own recipe! That makes it the very first one! I think I have various different recipes that I would consider my own but I have tweaked some ingredients from other recipes so it’s not really my own. A couple that comes to mind is very simple ones. Like my Chicken and Noodles and Chili recipes. Like most people know how to make each of those. Not adding a lot to them. So are they worth sharing and claiming as my own? I am not sure!

Why Sour Cream and Onion Pretzel Sliders?

Have you ever had Auntie Anne’s Pretzels? If you haven’t you are missing out! I use to live 15 minutes away from one and now I live 45 minutes away from the closest one. So if you haven’t, I understand. But if you have, you know how good Auntie Anne’s is! I have always been a fan. It use to be a treat for us girls and my mom when we were shopping at the local mall.

The best of times. When I got older, making my own money, and driving, I would stop in there before or after school. ( I had a break between school I had my regular high school and I attended the technical school in the afternoon.) Needless to say, I am a fan of Auntie Anne’s. So my go-to order at Auntie Anne’s is the Sour Cream and Onion Pretzel. (Do you see where I am going with this yet?)

When I saw that King’s Hawaiian came out with Pretzel buns and I was like hmm that interesting, and I was thinking I really want to make something with those. I knew I didn’t just want meat and cheese on them. it needed something else. Lightbulb (Gru Voice) Why not add my favorite seasoning on pretzels to these?! My husband and I have our favorite ham and cheese slider recipe so I wanted something other than ham. What is my favorite meat? Chicken. Sour Cream and Onion Pretzels. King’s Hawaiian. Chicken. These are a few of my favorite things.

Ingredients

  • (1) package of King’s Hawaiian Buns
  • Canned chicken or shredded rotisserie chicken. You can season the canned chicken with some pepper, garlic, onion powder, oregano, parsley, or any of your favorite seasonings.
  • Provolone sliced cheese
  • 4 tablespoons of melted butter
  • Sour Cream and onion seasoning

Instructions:

Preheat Oven to 425 degrees. Line a 9 X 13 pan with foil. Cut the buns into two slabs. Top and bottom. Place the bottom slab on your prepared pan. Next, add your seasoned chicken and then your sliced cheese on top of the chicken. Then place your top slab of buns on. Next, brush your melted butter on top of the buns. Then add your sour cream and onion seasoning. Bake for about 15 minutes! Enjoy your delicious Sour Cream and Onion Chicken Pretzel Sliders!

December 2022 Update

This time around I used chicken breast and boiled them. About 3 chicken breasts. I then added the sour cream and onion seasoning along with about 1 cup of sour cream to the shredded chicken. I added it all to my mixer bowl and then shredded it with the mixer. I then added the chicken to the bottom slab of the pretzel buns and then just added some sharp cheddar cheese to the top then added the top slab. I then took about 6 tablespoons of butter melted and then added more of the sour cream and onion seasoning to the melted butter and then added that to the rest of the sliders. I then backed at 425 degrees Fahrenheit for about 7 minutes! I think these pretzel buns burn quicker than the Kings Hawaiian rolls.

Thank you for following along! I hope you try out this new recipe of mine and tell me what you think! Make sure to follow Roost Eleven Eighteen on Instagram for behind-the-scenes and day-to-day posts! Check out the prior All Flock Feed post here.
