I posted this cute, cheap, and easy DIY Christmas craft as a reel! if you are looking for an easy Christmas craft, this is the one for you!
I adapted this idea from First Media Blossom on Pinterest.
You’ll need:
- Plastic spoons
- Poster board
- Spray paint
- Hot glue
- Glitter
You’ll just cut a triangle out of your poster board to make your tree. Just roll it up into a cone shape to form the tree. With the spoons, you just break off or cut off the handles. I placed my spoons right side up and the spoons pointing up. For this size of tree, I used 100 plastic spoons. I couldn’t have planned that any better that’s the exact amount I bought. My tree is 18 inches tall and 2.75 inches wide. When placing my spoons, each layer is offset from the layer above.
The most tedious part of this craft is just breaking the handles off. The rest is pretty dang simple! If you are adding glitter make sure you add the glitter before your paint dries. I just always do my painting and glittering outside! If we would have had more normal weather for an Ohio winter, I probably wouldn’t have been able to do this craft with spray paint. Since it’s supposed to be a certain temperature. I think this craft took me about 40 minutes gluing all the spoons on. And then about 10 minutes a couple of days later painting and adding the glitter.
Finishing Touches
I topped the tree with a cute little gold bulb. I added the spoon tree on my kitchen window along with the yarn trees I made last year! It’s so cute! If you are looking to get crafty but don’t know where to start, THIS is the perfect craft to try! Remember to believe in yourself and you can do just about anything you set your mind to! If it doesn’t turn out the way you want it to, that’s okay too. You can try again. I know some people don’t have the patience too but you should always try it out! And the best part is, you make it so it doesn’t need to be perfect! It’ll be in your home and you’ll cherish it!
