This recipe is from Cooking with Josh and Ange. Their recipe and post can be found here.
I never made scones before I heard of them but I wasn’t really even sure what they were. Her boyfriend requests these a lot! My sister shared this recipe with me and she wasn’t kidding such a great recipe and treat! Something different than cookies or cake!
This recipe is a great fall treat! The yummy rich maple flavor wakes your tastebuds up from the normal chocolate and pumpkin-flavored goodies! These would be perfect with a hot coffee or cappuccino! Perfect for a Sunday afternoon treat or to bring along for a fall party or family/friend get-together! Bring them into the office to share with your fellow coworkers!
Not Perfection but still Delicious
I don’t really know what I was expecting them to look like when I pulled them out of the oven. But I had to google “scones” to make sure mine were similar. I think maybe I thought they would be more fluffy like a cloud than a biscuit almost. And mine may have not turned out as perfect scones but I still liked them.
Just about with anything I google I was a little disappointed with mine. After reading some of the descriptions. But mine was pretty darn close!
The recipe calls for real maple syrup and maple extract. Make sure you get real maple syrup. It doesn’t taste anything like the $2 bottles you can get at the grocery stores, which most of us are used to. And don’t skip out on the maple extract. You want this recipe to full of maple-ness.
If you have a pastry fork that works best but I just used a fork to chop the butter in. Nonetheless, this recipe is pretty easy. If you are brand new to baking this might not be the easiest, but you could still do it!
My Final Thoughts
If you watch the video, you’ll see that my dough ended up being a little thinner than what the instructions said. I ended up with more than 8 scones. This was my first time making this recipe, but I’m not even going to use that as an excuse. I am sure if I made this again, it would happen the 2nd time around. I am not a professional baker or cook! This is all for fun, it is something I enjoy doing! That is the best part about this! Do not be scared to try something new or to mess up! Life is too short to be worried about all that. You’ll notice I am not the cleanest cook either. I make a mess, ALWAYS! That’s okay too!
