Goal Setting Manifesting and Setting Intentions

Goal Setting

I think you probably have heard about it time and time again. that you need to set goals to be successful. I know I heard that a lot in school and growing up. Before, I never paid any attention to it. The first time I actually set down and wrote out some meaningful goals was just a couple of years ago. Probably in 2019 for 2020. I could tell a difference and I was able to check them off my list. The same for this year as well. So is it just magic? You just write them down and they come true? Uh, no let’s dive into this a little more.

Goal setting and manifesting really go hand in hand. You have a goal you want to reach and you think, dream, and believe you will reach that goal. But that’s not all enough. You have to put in the work. You have to show up and put in the work to reach that goal. But when you are believing that you will reach the goal, that makes you work harder, and 9 times out of 10 you will reach it! `If you have them written down, and in your head, you want to work towards that.

Reaching a Goal

One of my goals in 2020 was for Dustin and me to buy our first house. We worked at it and worked at it to make sure all our ducks were in a row and we had our finances in order. Since we had come together and known that’s what we wanted we worked and did everything we could to make that happen. And we did it, we bought our first house. What a great feeling.

We bought our house in August 2020. So once we got all settled in and I realized we checked off a big item we had not only for our year goals but 5-year goals, I kinda felt like, now what? I wanted to continue reaching new goals even though I wasn’t sure what yet, so I made sure to write down new goals for the new year, 2021.

One of my goals for 2021 was to find my purpose, what I was put on this earth to do. And another goal was to start a business with Dustin. I think I have found that purpose and that business well it is my business but it is perfect for me. I didn’t know what I wanted to do or what was my purpose when I wrote down the goal(s). But I kept that goal in the back of my mind for the first few months of 2021.

Keep Going!

I kept looking and thinking and working towards whatever it was. Manifesting it. I started thinking about a place for me to share my triumphs and losses with my different projects, and how I save money on everyday items. I knew that I knew I wanted a safe place for everyone to come together. A place for people who are dealing with anxiety and/or depression, people who don’t have any friends to turn to have all have a place. That is where I came up with Roost Eleven Eighteen. I incorporated my love for chickens with The Roost.

I didn’t come up with Roost Eleven Eighteen overnight. It took time and hard work and determining what I wanted. I started really thinking about it in March and I slowly worked up an idea and concept and name. It took me a while to find what avenues were the best options. It took me about two months to get my website exactly how I wanted it with the tools I had. Then in June I wrote and posted my first post on the website and on Instagram. The rest is history!

So I say all this to show you that goal setting and manifesting do work. You just have to put in the work for it to work.

How specific should you be with Goal Setting?

I think the more specific the better really. Instead of just saying ” I want to be healthier in 2022″ you should say you want to be healthier but then add in what you plan on doing to get healthier. So your bullet point on your list should say like

  • Be more healthier in 2022. Take a walk everyday, drink a fruit smoothie everday, stop drinking pop. Cut back to one pop a day, then one pop every other day, then once a week, then no more pop.

Pretty simple, yet detailed. You are really creating a plan for yourself. Putting your plan out there in the universe, ie manifesting. You don’t have to worry about the details when you are first setting your goals. Just get the goals down and then go back in with your plan.

Intentions

Intentions are what you mentally plan on doing. One of my intentions is to be more consistent throughout my whole life. With Roost Eleven Eighteen I want it to become really successful. With my health journey, with Kapper and my family. Just everything. Intentions are a great place for you to change your mental state turning your half-empty cup into half full. I really like to reflect on the past year and look for instances where I didn’t like how I acted, responded, or thought.

When I started doing this, I noticed a difference in myself. When I first started dealing with my anxiety and it altering my entire day-to-day life, I really had time to step back and look at my own beliefs and what I was taught and was around growing up between family, friends, and school. I knew what I liked and what I didn’t Now I just try to be the best person I can be for myself and for the people around me.

Reflecting

You don’t have to write your goals before the year ends. January is the perfect time to sit and reflect over the previous year. You don’t need to rush, you have plenty of time. You want to be able to reflect on your last year and see where things could have done differently or what you want to change for the following year. Reflecting is a great way to learn from the previous year.
