Hi Chickadees! I can’t believe the first month of the new year has already come and gone! January is usually one of my favorite months, it is my birthday month! I turned 24 on the 24th this year!
January 2022 Recap
At the beginning of the month, I took a little time off social media just to recoup and regenerate. Then it was back to business making reels and content for the blog and Instagram! At the beginning of every year, I like to spend some time reflecting on the prior year and setting some goals and intentions for the new year. You can learn more about my process here.
I also shared a couple of reels on Instagram about believing in yourself and self-doubt. And I am trying to be more honest about what I go through doing my projects and day-to-day. I think the best way to deal with self-doubt and anxiety is to just be upfront and honest. Everyone deals with self-doubt. We all have bad days and rough days and that is okay. As long as we pick ourselves back up and try to do better tomorrow. There is also a blog post to go along with these reels here that go more in-depth.
Here you find some of the small businesses and locally made products I gifted for Christmas. It was so fun and exciting to share a piece of my town with my friends and family! I will definitely continue to every year.
January is for Healthy Changes
If you didn’t know, I have been trying to make some healthy changes in my life. I started holding myself accountable and taking daily walks with Kapper. After a month of being consistent I would purchase a better leash for walks. A leash for better control and easier handling for Kapper. I found the perfect one! A hands-free leash! I don’t have to use my hands to walk him and it allows me to have way more control than the retractable leash I was using. It is one of my favorite purchases for sure! Bbbuttttttt I looked in the mirror after I had it on. I look like Ms. Trenchball from Matilda. With all my extra layers on and then the band around my waist hahahahahaha. You can watch the funny reel here!
The best part of the month is buying myself an early birthday present! An indoor greenhouse and grow lights! You can watch me set it up here! I am in love with it and I can start seeding trays here in the next week or so!
Birthday Weekend
My birthday weekend started off right, I had Friday-Monday off. Of course got some content made and cooked a lot actually. I love having time to do things I love with no stress of work being around! I made chicken parmesan on Thursday night which was delicious. Friday I did some self-care, colored my hair, and did a facemask. Then I went and got a pedicure! My first one since 2019! I hadn’t seen the inside of a nail salon since 2019! Things have definitely changed for me over the years. It was so relaxing! Saturday I baked my own cake not as good as the one I wanted, but I tried to mimic it as close as I could.
My parents and my youngest sister came over for my birthday dinner. We tried a new restaurant downtown that I have been wishing to try since they opened this past summer. Then Sunday hit and we got some snow/ice and I started to not feel so hot. I did make some breakfast pizza- the latest All Flock Feed post. It was delicious, a recipe to make again! Then Monday, my birthday, rolled around and I felt like utter crap. I actually stayed home two extra days I was so sick! Still not 100% either which is crazy to me. So not how I planned my little vacation to go but I definitely needed the rest.
Bathroom Remodel
And then to top everything off, I started on the bathroom remodel my birthday weekend too. It might sound crazy to some, but I love working on my projects, cooking, and content for Roost Eleven Eighteen. I didn’t get much done over the weekend, but I did get more done as I started to feel better. To date, I have all the painting done, the vanity is completely done, and my new mirror up. I won’t be going into much detail about the bathroom here. There will be a full blog post when it is all done!
